I'm Jordi — I'm a Wisconsinite living in northeast Florida that is building out her dream homestead (all while still loving Target and a good sale!)

Exciting News:
We Bought Land!

Why Homestead-ish?

coming soon

I can barely contain my excitement as I type this – we bought LAND! 🎉 Ten beautiful acres of pine trees in northeast Florida that will soon become our homestead-ish paradise. Remember all those Pinterest boards and late-night dreaming sessions? They’re finally turning into reality!

Let me take you on a little tour of what we’re working with: imagine driving down a quiet road, turning onto our property, and being surrounded by towering pine trees as far as the eye can see. Zone 9A, baby! It’s raw, it’s wild, and it’s absolutely perfect for what we have planned.

Speaking of plans (because you know this Type 3w4 loves a good plan), here’s what we’re envisioning:

First up: clearing. We’ll be clearing some of the pine trees to create space for our future home while maintaining the natural beauty of the land. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between development and preservation. And yes, I’m already dreaming about where I’ll plant my first garden!

The big show-stopper? We’re building a barndominium! For those who haven’t fallen down the barndo rabbit hole on Pinterest yet, it’s basically the perfect blend of modern living space and practical barn functionality. Think high ceilings, open concept living, and plenty of space for all my homesteading adventures. And yes, there will definitely be some Anthropologie-inspired touches in the design!

But here’s what makes this extra exciting: we’re going off-grid! That means solar panels, water collection systems, and all sorts of sustainable solutions. Don’t worry – I’ll still be making my Target runs, but our home will be powered by the sun. How cool is that?

I can already picture it all: gathering eggs from our future chicken coop (coming soon!), watching kunekune pigs roam their designated area (eventually!), and maybe even spotting our dream donkey grazing in the field (a girl can dream!). But for now, we’re starting with the basics – clearing land, planning infrastructure, and figuring out how to turn these pine-filled acres into our own little slice of homestead heaven.

I’ll be sharing every step of this journey – the good, the challenging, and probably some funny mishaps along the way. From learning about land clearing to designing our barndominium, and everything in between, you’re invited to follow along as we figure this whole land-owning thing out.

So here’s to new beginnings, big dreams, and finding that perfect balance between modern convenience and homestead life. Because that’s what being homestead-ish is all about, right?

P.S. Stay tuned for regular updates, and yes, there will definitely be plenty of progress photos! ✨
